Here you will learn all about Anomalocaris, an early marine predator! This beautiful sea creature existed in the Cambrian period. Anomalocaris fossils are often found in the Burgess Shale, located in Canada.

They're mostly known for the species Anomalocaris Canadensis. I think people should appreciate the other species, like Anomalocaris Saron.

Anomalocaris' compound eyes were evidence that this trait had evolved before segmented legs.

Originally, it's mouth was mistaken for a jellyfish before scientists realized it was one animal. Today it's debated whether Anomalocaris used the appendages on it's head to crush trilobites or if it preferred soft-bodied prey. There's still much to be learned about this beautiful radiodont ( ´ ω ` )ノ゙

Fun fact: Anomalocaris means "not like other shrimp!"
